Is sampla maith é Paidí Bheairtlín Val Breathnach de leanúnachas chomh maith le solúbthacht an traidisiúin cumadóireachta agus filíochta i gCeantar na nOileán. Chaith sé seal fada ag obair i Sasana agus fuair sé bás i Londain sa mbliain 1998. Is iontach an píosa filíochta atá sa Mí-Ádh Mór, amhrán atá domhain gan a bheith trom, agus a bhfuil an greann ann gan dearmad a dhéanamh den dáiríre. Tá sé á chasadh anseo ag Bertie Ó Domhnaill as Tír an Fhia, duine a chuir lámh le véarsaíocht é féin, ag leanúint sampla a mháthar Máirín a mbeadh a háit féin tuillte aici ar Shlí na bhFilí, ach atá beo beathaitheach inár measc fós, míle buíochas le Dia!

The poetry of Paidí Bheairtlín Val Breathnach stands as a prime example of the continuation and adaptability of the creative and poetic tradition in Ceantar na nOileán. He worked in England for a long number of years and died in London in 1998. There is excellent poetry in An Mí-Ádh Mór, an there is a certain depth to the song but without it being too heavy as there is humour there also. The song is sung here by Bertie Ó Domhnaill from Tír an Fhia, who also composes verse, as does his mother Máirín, who no doubt would also have her place on Slí na bhFilí, but thankfully she is still alive and well!
